I have a 2001 25hp 4 stroke that is choking out while idiling. I can get it started by advancing the throttle and pulling the rope and she starts right up but as soon as I bring the throttle back to idle it starts sputtering and dies out. Without advancing the throttle I cant get it started at all. The boat runs great at high rpm's. I can increase the idle but it has to be real high before it will sustain an idle and shifts real hard into gear. Last year I rebuilt the carb because it had gummed up after putting it back together the problem started. I thought that I had opened up the jet too much so I bought a new one for 17$. After installing the new jet it still has the same problem. I checked the float to make sure it was at the right level which it was. I changed the spark plugs, oil, lowerunit oil, fuel filter, and fuel. Any ideas?
It is due to have the valves readjusted could this have somthing to do with it?
Does anyone know if there is a fuel/air ratio adjustment on the carb somewhere I dont see one and the shop manual says nothing about it.
