25 hp evinrude '78 and '84 blocks

I have a '78 25 hp evinrude that runs great but has seen better days. I also have a '84 engine that I used for a parts motor to get the '78 running that I now would like to rebuild to go in place of the '78. I know the crankshaht splines are different and I have a solution for that, but what else is different between these two blocks that would keep me from bolting everything up, especially the shifter.
