I've got a 1978 25 hp Evinrude Outboard that I recently just got done restoring. It was left on it's side and a mouse had made a nest up through the exhaust holes and all the way to the cylinders. I have just got done with completely ripping it all apart including the powerhead and cleaning it all out. Upon putting it back together, it now doesn't want to turn over very well. It seems almost sticky. It has good compression on both cylinders (about 110 psi each). When I opened the case and put it back together, I didn't really lube up the crankshaft. Could this be the problem? I'm planning on taking it back apart and greasing all the bearings and the crank but wanted to get some other opinions. Any help appreciated. Let me know!

Re: 25 hp Evinrude Rough to turn over

UPDATE: So I took the powerhead back apart and lubed up the crank and bearings really well and put back together. With the plugs out, it turns over smooth. When i put the plugs in, it is pretty tough to turn over still like too much compression and not enough air coming back out. Any ideas?? P.S. When i fire it up, i can feel it ease up like freeing up, but when I shut it off,and try to restart it, i still have to pull way to hard to get her to want to fire.

UPDATE: After running it a few times it seems to be loosening up. Feels pretty normal now. Maybe just needed to be ran.
