25 hp johnson 2000 need help with starter bracket part

I have a 25 hp johnson, 2000 ... My part# for the starter bracket is 333929. This place sent me a part # 327730 saying that 333929 supercedes the 327730. but one of the bolt holes is a hair too short for the bolt to gain access and one bolt hole thats on the original bracket thats a threaded hole is not on the replacement bracket. why is this, and what can i do. is this the right part? it says its for a 1984 35hp. thanks

this is what the BRP parts diagrams shows for your bracket.

Part Number: 0333929
Description: BRKT, EL STARTER

Equivalent Parts: N/A

as you can see there is no equivalent part. it is direct replacement.

Several brackets will fit my motor ('81 25hp), including yours
per the BRP website.

So it appears the part for your motor (333929) is backwards compatible,
i.e. will fit the older Johnsons,
but it doesn't work the other way around.

would the that same bracket (model # 333929) fit a 72 evinrude 25 hp? the OMC bracket looks identical to it.
