25 HP Johnson Information

I'm brand new here, so hello. I have just been given a older 14' Crestliner boat with a 25 HP Johnson motor. I have been looking around the internet to find some information on the motor (the boat is a 1981 model). I have been getting lots of great info from this site! I need to get a manual so I can do all the maintenance on this motor.

I can't find a reference to my exact model number, so I thought I would run it by you folks to see what you can tell me.

Model# J25RIM; S# E5435264

That would explain why I couldn't find a match either. Thanks. I'll check again as soon as I get home. I'm wondering if I messed a "C" between the R and the M.

Yup, sorry for the oversight. It is J25RCIM - 1981 25 HP. I guess "R" rope start (it actually has an after-market electric starter. Anything else I should know?

I will order a manual tomorrow. I was leaning toward the Johnson manual, is that the way to go? Or is this one of these no consensus questions?

Definitely get the factory manual. No debate.
