I foolishly thought that I could tune up my 1979 25 hp Mariner by ensuring that the mag was all right. It seems that the flywheel was welded to the end of the crank. As this would be both foolish and near impossible to do,I guess that there was movement on that taper and causes "spot welding to occur. Struggling to break the flywheel free from the then unknown weld I bent it. How can I find out which flywheels fit eg one from a smaller one and why did this happen?
