In the market for a new stainless prop for my 1997 2 stroke mariner. Does anyone have any suggestions on hat pitch I should use? The motor is mounted on a 1546 g3 Allweld flat bottom. Im looking for a balance between low end pick up and top end, WOT speed

Wondering why stainless? They do usually improve performance but are costly and are about twice the cost for repair.
If your going from al. to ss it does create some unpredictability.
If you read the stickys at the top of the prop forum and get us as much info as possible
we can help. For the health of your motor and the best performance we need to have your present performance and the
results of the new prop after you get it.
You need a tach for your wot rpm and gps speed.
Your present prop size should be under the prop nut or near the base of the blades.
Something like a Tinytach will work on almost any motor.

Reason for SS is because the boat is primarily used as a duck boat and stainless is the only way to go when running the timber. The prop on there right now is aluminum and bent to almighty hell. I'm only getting 21 mph at WOT. Its at the shop right now and I was hopin to go ahead and have them get the new prop. Therefore, I doubt I'll be able to run it before the new prop. If I'm not sure about the exact pitch I need, is there a pitch that is somewhat "universal" for these motors?

Using the prop size that's on there now; drop 1 inch of pitch and go for it.

The Solas New Saturn SS prop is available in pitches from 10-15 inches in 1 inch increments, for about $170. That's about the third the cost of a bigger SS prop(for the big motors).

The Mercury prop selector comes up with a 13" pitch(in SS) for the boat with a 800 lb load. :)
