25 HP Merc 4 Stroke - HELP

2006 Mercury 25 HP 4 Stroke. Motor hasn't run right from first day and I can't get it fixed. Runs good when first put in water, 5400 RPM's and 18 MPH. After stopping and fishing for a while, say 30 mins. to and hour, and start it up and it doesn't come up to speed, only 4400 RPM's and runs very slow, needle doesn't come off the peg on the MPH dail. Been in the shop 5 times and still not fixed. Mercury blames me stating I didn't follow break in procedures. They did find a faulty fuel pump that was pumping gas into crankcase and fixed that, but can't find problem with the lose of power and RPM's. Any ideas???

Surely someone has had a problem simular to this. It only looses RPM's after it has been run a while, never on first start up.

I have a 1999 Mercury 25hp 4cycle that does the same thing. Runs great for the first 10 minutes then I loose about 800RPMs. If i push the electric trim button the RPMs come back till I release the button. Been to two Mercury Techs but they dont know what is wrong. Talked to Mercury Marine but they gave up and told me to try another Tech. If you have any luck let me know and I will do the same. I have the same problem with my 25Hp Mercury 4cycle.I have been to four techs and still have the same problem. Have you had any luck? John
