hi i'm looking for opinions on manual tilt for the 25 hp mercury four stroke tiller. i am considering buying this motor brand new from a dealer 3 hours away and i have yet to try this out and i am wondering if it is worth the drive. i grew up with manual tilt/trim but always with light 2 strokes. i do not care about not having power trim unless it is extremely heavy and/or awkward to tilt/trim the motor manually. i have looked around on the web but i can't seem to find anyhting relating to the manual trim option. the exact motor is a 25Hp four stroke long shaft electric start tiller (roughly 170lbs). any opinions would be helpful as i plan to make the trip next week to check this thing out but with the price of gas these days if it is not worth it i'm not going to go.

hmmm no one knows. i'm assuming mercury wouldn't make a motor that you could not tilt relatively easy for the majority of the public. i'm hoping thats the case so i don't waste $100 in gas to go see this thing.

its probably a tohatsu. tohatsu offers power tilt & trim on the 25HP. i'm not sure if you can add it on after the fact. the 1995-2005 mercury manual tilt is so generic that you could probably adapt it to fit any engine.

I have same motor only remote control. I could not handle it so went back and had tilt added. I previously had a 2 stroke and could tilt it with one hand.

Re: 25 HP Mercury EFI manual tilt?

I recently purchased this motor and have had no problems manually tilting it. granted its not like the 8hp i had before. but its not bad. i just grab the handle on the back and put one foot on the transom and it lifts just fine. mine is a short shaft and they dont make a power tolt model and its like $600 to get one put in.

Get the electric tilt, you know it makes sense! Also consider the 30 version, only a little more?
