My friend recently acquired a 25 hp mercury outboard with a quick silver control we are attempting to get it running to see what it may need there is no kill switch but everything else appears to be there, can we bypass the kill switch temporarily just to see if the engine runs? If so how ? And would the kill switch stop it from turning over or do i have another problem ? The motor I believe is a 1982 the serial# 6055608 was all I could find and the control is a Quick silver but the only numbers I can find are in the casting on the inside they are 85892 it has a four prong plug at the front, the key at the rear near the top, and a choke switch, with a throttle only button and no trim. any help would be greatly appreciated.
