I have a mid 90's Mercury outboard with Electric start and need to change the water pump etc...but the dealer in town has been less than helpful. I THINK I remember it being a 1994....but can't be sure.

Apparently someone removed my plate off the side which had the model # and serial number. I am told that it is stamped on the block somewhere but no one seems to be able to tell me where exactly.

The only number I found near the plugs was 872-9076 C12.

Can anyone point me in the right direction as my local dealer is an *****? I would rather order it online and not give him the buisness if I can help it.

Thanks!!

Re: 25 HP Mercury (What year?) Plate missing

Couple of suggestions:
See if you can find a silver colored aluminum plug (looks like a freeze plug about the size of quarter) on the side of the block with the serial number stamped on it. Some have this.
Second, check internet for Mercury parts and order online. I like Kenyon Power Boats in Tampa. This 25 (assume 2 cylinder, 2 stroke) model was made from 80 or 81 up until recently, I am pretty sure most all of them have the same water pump. Just tell whoever you order from, the year and to sell you the most common water pump for a 25hp and I'll bet you are good to go.

Good luck.
