25 hp outboard runs then dies

i have a mid 80's vintage (i think) mariner 25hp outboard on my pontoon. i can get it started and it runs for a minute then dies and wont relight. good spark on the plugs. im assuming a fuel delivery problem. ive had the carb cleaned and still no help. the mechanic says it runs fine for him. any thoughts?

See if sqeezing the primer bulb helps if so then the fuel pump is suspect.

do as steelespike said. also were the carbs just cleaned, or rebuilt.?my 25 would idle fine but not open up.

i tore mine apart again and found that my float had a small crack in it letting gas in it which of course kept it from moving correctly and not letting enought fuel in.

my suggustion is, if the carbs were just cleaned and not rebuilt. then rebuil at least with a gasket kit per manual instuructions. make sure all is clean especially high and low speed jet. and make sure float is fine and float level and inlet needle are ok
