My Service Manual says to crank and warm engine. With Timing Light attached to the #1 spark plug wire, advance the throttle to the wide open position. As I don't have a dyno to attach to the prop, how do you best run the engine at full throttle and check with a timing light? Leave boat strapped to trailer and back into the water? Which of the three dots on the flywheel should align with the timing mark on the manual starter? When doing the Throttle PickupTiming Adjustment, which one of the two dots on the flywheel should align with the mark on the manual starter housing? Am I correct that the high speed timing is the only adjustment that is made with the spark advance link rod? In other words, when the high speed is set correctly the low speed setting is correct also? I know I need to set the throttle cam after adjusting the high speed setting. Thanks for any and all help!

Re: 25 XD Timing Questions

I answered my own question about the three dots and two dots. The dots are verticle and align vertically with the mark on the manual starter housing. Can anyone help with the proceedure for checking the high speed timing?

Re: 25 XD Timing Questions

WE use our test tank or tie them to a dock but as long as it is well fastened to the trailer I guess that would work. I would unload and tie it to a dock.
