Any help/thoughts on troubleshooting these problems would be appreciated, I am trying to avoid a $1000 bill on these engines.
Twin Yamaha 2000 250 OX66s
1) Starboard Motor - was idleing very low (300-400 RPM) , surging, sneezing and stalling, but ran great at higher rpms. Changed low pressure fuel pumps & thermostats. Ran good for 1 trip, now when starting same low idle but when engine seems to warm up rpms come up to about 900 rpms (which is where I have idle set). After running well at higher rpms, engine still stalls when brought back down to neutral to anchor or dock.
2) Port Motor - Yesterday engine started smoking or burning oil at low rpms. Checked after trip and noticed some oil leaking from the air intake cover (?) on the front of the engine. bottom of indisde of cowling showed oil leakage.
200 hr service in May. Supposedly they cleaned 02 sensors...
