I am in need of a replacemental prop. I am currently running a 10.3?13 black max on a 25hp 2 stroke mariner 96'. Boat is a 2007 1448pf g3 boat. Prop is spun and hard to get a good wot rpm number. Best I got was around 6000rpms at 28.4. Weight was around 700 lbs will always be between 700 and 1000. I have ran a solas amita 3 prop on old motor and was happy. I would like a performance prop like a splitfire but can't find any that are made for my outboard. The turning point hustler seems to be the only raked and cupped prop I could find in aluminum. I see mixed reviews on these. Am I better off with an oem prop or is there a better option. My goals would be having the same or slightly better hole shot, improved handling and top end speed. (Would like to get to 30mph) Don't have a real need for stainless steel since it's just a 25hp.

I did look into the spitfire. They don't make one for my outboard. I am looking at the solas amita 3 or turning point hustler. Would like to stick with an aluminum prop. Just wanted to see if I could get one with better performance from the black max. The hustler prop seems to be the only cupped aluminum prop that is avaliable for my outboard.

What's the max wot rpm range for thaat 25HP-OB ? I think OB it's already revving at max wot rpm with current 10.3 x 13 pitch prop. if so, buy same new or have it repaired at a prop shop if you're comfortable with its water performance.

I may do this. The current prop is badly chipped and has a dent on one blade and the hub is starting to slip. I just bought this motor and boat this year and looking to make improvements if possible. Didn't know if someone was having success getting better overall performance out of an aluminum prop with small outboards. I saw the reviews on the spitfire prop from Mercury (more grip, better hole shot, and no loss of top end speed.) unfortunately this prop is not made for my outboard. The hustler prop from turning point also shows simalar claims over an Oem prop. I have seen mixed reviews. I most likely will buy a new prop anyway as repairs for a prop this size will closely match a replacement.

OB will experiment rpm variations from prop manufacturer to manufacturer no matter if being near same diam and pitch. If comfy with water performance buy excat same new prop. You can always re pitch any prop at a prop shop than knows how to do it properly from +2 to -2 pitch in 0.5 increments/decrements sizes if in need to fine tune wot revs up or down without the need to buy a second prop playing by a whole +1,-1 pitch sizes.

If wanting boating perfection there's a prop cost attached to it. Personally always run OEM alum props as testing other brands will be throwing money into the deep blue, I'm located too far away for costly resturns. Have dialed top wot rpm for all my OB's and their applications and as currently loaded by going 0.5-1-2 less pitch OEM alum props. Hole shots are fantastic with nice top end speed.

You can always get the max out of any combo powered with a under powered OB by a correct OB height optimization, correct deck weight distribution, correct trim and propped right for max wot rpm as usually loaded..
