I recently purchased a 2000 25hp Mercury Outboard. It starts and runs fine. Shifts into gear fine, and I can accelerate slightly as I putt out of the marina. When I go to open up the throttle it cuts out. When I pull the choke, I am able to throttle up slightly, and accelerate to get on a plane, but if I continue to give it gas with the choke still pulled, it eventually stalls out.

Sounds like I should rebuild the carbs. Right? I have never done this before. Does anyone have a step by step set of instructions or a guide/youtube video to follow for this size/year (or similar) outboard?

Much appreciated.

Buy yourselve a carb rebuild set and a manual(seloc or clymer), and do the job yourselve, its not a difficult job, unless you have " ten tumbs"
