Hello,
I have a 2001 25hp Bigfoot 4 Stroke. It would start and idle but would not advance past 2500 rpm. The idle was too fast, so when the engine was put into gear, it made a loud CLANG.
First let me say - I know almost nothing about engines and particularly outboards. I took the carburator off and rebuilt it - rebuild kit and an over night soak in GUNK carb wash. I dismantled it down as far as I could figureout.
I put it all back together and it started right up. I took it for a run tonight, runs WOT fine. When I slow down, the oil preasure alarm starts beeping and the motor will idle rough and stall. If I keep it from stalling, the oil alarm will not stop, until I turn off the engine.
To start the engine, instead of it starting at neutral, I have to depress the out of gear button, and advance the throttle to full to engage the choke.
I can turn up the idle speed but then the motor really bangs into gear. How do I measure the idle speed to get it to 800 rpm?
Should the oil beeper be going off? Is this because the rpm is too slow?
