25hp 4stroke 1998 Merc want to add tilt/trim

I would like to add tilt and trim to my motor, what is the best way to go. I have seen a minkota unit for about $500. I asked a local repair shop and he says you can't do it, Merc only goes down to 30HP.

Archer11ac,<br /><br />CMC makes a trim/tilt unit for smaller outboards. It fits in between the transom and the outboard and sets the outboard back about 6". Bass Pro Shops and Cabellas sell them for around $450 to $500. I will be installing one on my boat soon.

Does it have to be electric tilt/trim? If not, then why not draw up some plans, come up with a great idea, and build one? If you have access to a Cabellas or Bass Pro shop, go down, see how it's made, and do what they use to do....Build It!!

Cabellas and BPS t/t are electric powered hydraulic units made from aluminum. <br /><br />ventageplywood,<br />Do you have a source for the dc hydraulic pump and ram?

Archer, I have personally installed mercs power trim on 9.9 hp fourstrokes...talk to a dealer, its in the accesory catalog....
