25hp Evinrude cuts out at near WOT

I have a 79 Evinrude 25hp 25904 that starts and idles fine. Runs fine until nearing WOT. It starts cutting out. I reach down and pump the bulb on fuel line from tank and it picks back up and goes 200-300 yrds and does it again. I've replaced bulb/line from tank. Rebuilt carb. Changed plugs. And considering changing fuel pump, but thought I'd check on here to see if I'm going in the right direction or see if anyone might know where to look for the problem.

Does it have the fuel primer or choke. If you have the primer, make sure it's all the way in. This happened to my 20 johnson they get stiff over time, also the carb settings on the high side may be too lean, or you picked something up out of the tank and the needle a seat is plugged, or the float is mal adjusted, obviously it's starving for fuel. I would look at the carb again and maybe replace the pump as an added precaution. Might not help but at least you'll know that you won't be stranded in the middle of a lake rowing home with a blown fuel pump. Pumps for these are not very expensive. I'm working on a 1970 25 evinrude right now and I'm going to replace the fuel pump, as well as carb kit, plugs, wires ect.

For less than the cost of a fuel pump and certainly less than all the work you have done already, you could buy a fuel pressure gauge. Temporary tee it into the hose between the pump and carburetor. If it shows proper pressure, the pump and everything before it is working. Test first, then fix.

What about replacing the fuel lines? Are they old and stiff? Speaking of that right size? What size fuel lines are in the motor compartment anyway? Is it 1/4?

All new fuel lines from tank to pump and from pump to carb. Pressure testing is a great idea, but have idea of what the correct pressure is nor do I have a way to test. Guess I'll replace pump, and if that doesn't solve the issue, I'll have a spare one. Off the wall question, but could it be a coil?
