Hello Again...Well let's see here so far I put in a new fuel system (gas tank - carb.) Replaced a cracked coil and spark plugs. Took it out to the lake to test it and see if I fixed it from bogging down  (NOPE). I can go along with it opened up for a minute or so then it slowly boggs to a very low speed, pulled the choke out at this point and it picked up for a second, waited 30 seconds opened it back up until it bogged down again and pulled the choke out and nothing.
I have about 12 feet of fuel line from my gas tank to the motor.(could this be a problem).Thank you all for the help, any more ideas would be wonderful. 1974 25hp Johnson M# 25RL74M S#E4026735  Jay

Hi, Shooter.

Does your primer bulb get hard and stay hard? Have you tried pumping it when the engine misbehaves?

When was the last time the engine ran correctly? Has it ever run correctly with the long fuel line? Is something pinching that long fuel hose somewhere?

Let us know what you find. PLEASE DO NOT start another new thread. Reply to this one. :)

JB,I never kept it open for a longer period of time until after I put the tank in front of the boat. I'll have to try the primer this weekend (can't reach it) Thanks.

Re: 25hp Johnson Boggs Down. Slow-Speed Needle?

Hello, Well I got it out on the water Sat. It started doing the same thing then I messed with the slow-speed (Lean Rich)needle, I found a spot and the boat ran great :) My boy took it out and it started bogging again. I guess I should have marked the spot on the screw :( The only thing I can think of is I moved the screw when I put the cover back on or it moves when the motor runs. Do you think the problem all along could be that the Lean Rich screw needed to be set. Could someone explain the Lean Rich Needle to me? what is it's purpose.
Thank You, Jay

There is a gromet that fits over low speed needle that may be weak. Also your Hi speed jet could be cloged. one way to check is with motor running under load with cowling off try putting 2 or 3 fingers over carb if this corrects or changes rpms I would replace Hi speed jet also look at low speed check for rounding off or bent needle.

Also insure pickup in tank is secure.
