25hp Mariner tiller

A buddy of mine bought a 14' alumacraft that is rated for a 15hp motor and he is looking at this 25hp motor. He is concerned about weight and power. Can anyone give me some advice to give him. I'm not sure what the difference is in weight and power. This 25hp is a really good deal and it would save him alot of money but of course he is skeptical. I dont have much info on this motor besides the hp. Appreciate it.

Putting 25HP on a boat max rated for 15 would be a stupid stunt.

The rating is there because it would be unsafe to use more.

There is a misconception out there that boats max HP has something to do with weight it does not it is the amount of torque that the engine can exert on the transom
