Recently engine got extremely hot, found that the water stream was weak. Removed lower unit and found the impeller to look perfectly fine. Can it b bad but look ok?

It the replacement don't have a knoch in the plate, use a 1/16 drill and drill the plate or you won't get water from the telltall till the stat opens.

The plate is the part of the thermostat that opens and closes to let the water thru the thermosat and with out a notch or hole in it, no water can come to the telltale till the stat opens so the notch or hole will let some water thru to bleed the engine block an let you see water at the telltale
