Hi, I'm new to the forum and new to the Pontoon Boat world. Just purchased a 27' Suntracker pontoon with a 3.0L Mercruiser I/O motor and drive. I am wondering if anyone has a good location for instructions for removing the engine. I see a number of large bolts that look to attach the bilge to the boat floor. I am curious if you can remove the engine, bilge, outdrive as one piece for service? Thanks to all for the great forums.

Unlike cars, rarely will you find instructions for something like that. Just consider every boat a total custom.

You're talking about dropping the engine pod vs. trying to get it out from above? Obviously haven't seen what you are looking at, but that sounds like an excellent plan of attack to me!

What kind of service are you doing? Sounds like a lot of work for a simple tune up/oil change.

I was thinking of how to do any major service. It is nearly impossible to see the front of the engine and it’s so deep in the hole that’s it’s difficult to reach anything lower than the carb.

If that's the case, and you aren't actually removing the engine, I'd be looking at ways to re-engineer what is likely a really poorly thought out installation. Now might be a good time to look into how you're going to winterize it for instance.

Pictures (after you get your post count up by a couple) might draw some helpful ideas!
