Hello all,

i was outside looking over my boat this am and noticed a bit of oil seeping from the upper gear box. I took the rear cover off (the one that exposes the shift rod) and noticed that there is oil seeping from the housing ( circled in red in the attached picture)001.jpg.

What would cause this ? Am i into replacing just the seal on the shifter mechanism or am i needing to go deeper? Boat is winterized and shrink wrapped till spring. from what i can see from this pic there are 2 seals, well 1 seal and one o-ring. Is it as simple as replacing those parts or do i need to go deeper? As i said it isnt pouring out of there just a very slow seep.

Same thing that causes any other seal to leak.

You just need to remove the 4 bolts holding the shift mechanism on, and replace the oring and the seal.
You can download the OEM manual for your drive up in the Adults Only sticky in the Volvo info section.
