270 outdrive

Hello all,

New here, though read the forums alot. Hoping you can help a guy out.

I'm slowly working on an 84 bayliner cuddy. Has an aq125a with a 270 outdrive. The motor is basically a rusted block of metal. I spoke to a guy who has an 89 230a motor from another bayliner but the outdrive is bad. How do find out if they will match up or what needs to be done? Only info i could find is that the 230a is a 4cyl with the sam hp as the aq125.

Any help would be very appreciated

welcome. the 230 is 2 generations newer than the 125. the 131 is in between. that being said, if the motor is complete, it just may bolt up...i wouldn't think many parts would interchange between the two motors but it might work. never tried it.
