I've started the process of changing my AQ225E/275 drive connecting bearings. I've had some issues with some parts being out-of-stock at iboats, but found Lighthouse Marine on Long Island had some I needed. Still lacking the O-ring between the transmission and intermediate drive and one of the big rubber ring seals (iboats only had one). At least I have the parts to get the housing and shaft completed.
I have the transmission and ujoint shaft out, bolts are removed from the clamping ring (unbolted easily), haven't needed heat on anything to this point. Question is, seeing that the rear of the engine is likely supported by the clamping ring, would it be prudent to leave it in place until the engine is removed. I know that I can force it off by screwing bolts into the threaded holes, should I wait until the engine is supported?
Never done a Volvo drive before, so figured I'd ask first.
