Hi,
Ive posted this in the Prop section with no responce, maybe you guys have dealt with this before.
I have a Volvo 280 Outdrive. The Cone has notches in it where a tab washer holds the cone in place by bending the tabs down against the cone. They are no longer selling this type of cone and are replacing it with cone without the notches. How does this work? Has anyone converted to this new cone? There is a washer or something that goes with the new cone. The biggest issue is that my prop spline does not have a thread for a bolt in the end. Do I actually have to drill and tap the spine? How does the new cone stay on without the bolt in the end if I dont?
I would love to convert to a new system for the zinc is behind the prop and the tab washer is a pain. Anyone know of this replacement or how it works?
Also the Part that fits right after the prop Zinc (called the deflector ring or line cutter) has seperated from its internal part (metal tube that keeps the prop from rubbing on the zinc), this doesnt seem to interfer with anythiing but want to make sure if I should replace this as well.
