280 U-joint parts

Volvo AQ240A / 280

I need some help. I ordered Sierra 19-2104 Cross Pieces for my u-joints, it came with the locking rings. I noticed that the diagram calls for a protector ring, cork ring and Needle Bearings (8) as well. Do I need to replace these parts as well? I have not replaced these before. The manual does not have part numbers either. Any help would be appreciated.'

Ive read that I need to be in forward gear to remove upper unit on some models but not anywhere for the 280, is this correct?

The new ujoints come with new needle bearings. I'm not familliar with the other parts, cork and protector ring.

Leave it in neutral to remove the upper. I hope your following a manual.

Yes, I have the manual. It does'nt state any gear to put it in, just wanted to double check.

Are you sure about the needle bearings? If they came with the cross piece then they must make them as one. Theres nothing with the cross except zirt fittings and clips.

The needle bearings are inside the caps that fit onto the ends of the u-joint body. The caps are what fit into the yokes. Did those caps come with the cross piece? I have not seen just the cross piece available by itself before.

No Caps with them. Ill call the guy where I got them from and see whats compatible

My Bad, They did come with the needle bearings, Im going to unpack it tonight and check it out. Thanks for the help. What can I expect to pay to have someone press the crosses out and the new ones in?
