2hp gas leak

I have a 1984 2hp Johnson that I cleaned the carburetor and put a kit in it. After reassembling everything, I fired it up. It seems to run fine but now I have a gas leak from the carburetor. It seems to be coming out of the hole to the right of the top adjustment screw (see photo). At the back end of this hole (or port) there is a very small "soft plug" and, I assume, a small lead shot underneath that, according to the parts diagram. Am I on the right track to assume I need to remove this plug and replace the shot? Did I screw something up when I cleaned it?Carb.jpg

I assume that you did replace the float needle valve assembly, if not, do so. Also check the float level.

(Carburetor Float Setting)
(J. Reeves)

With the carburetor body held upside down, the float being viewed from the side, adjust the float so that the free end of the float (the end opposite the hinge pin) is ever so slightly higher (just ever so slightly off level) than the other end. And when viewed from the end, make sure it is not cocked.

+1^^^ dont remove the lead shot..no need to.

It's running! I ended up putting the original cork float back in. There didn't seem to be anything wrong with it and I figured it would be correctly set.

Now I just need to take it and my Scanoe to the lake for some fishing. With my luck with engines, I'm still keeping my fingers crossed, though (and taking my electric trolling motor... just in case).

Thanks.
