2nd battery hook up?

i have a trolling motor battery, and i would like to install a 2nd. the dealer mentioned something about hooking up a switch from one battery to the next. what kind of switch and how do i do this?

Could you tell us what exactly you want it to do? Just run two batteries for the trolling motor? Are the batteries exact same type and age? What else is connected to them? Are they connected to the boat electrical or charging system? Makes a difference in how to go about it.

Probally what your dealer is talking about a battery isolator. When motor is on you keep both batteries charged, when motor is off you will use only use one battery for accs. and you won't drain your cranking mtr. Its all automatic.
