3.0 140 mercruiser

can someone tell me if the icm module in the distributor is inerchangeable with a regular vehicle icm module. or is the one you get from mercury different. maybe the advance is different or something thank you keith

hey porkchop,merc used there own electronics on there distrib,s. Dont think itll interchange. What years your 3.0? (they call a sensor)

hey there rod knock, the motor is a 2001 and the boat is a 1987, this is the little black ignition control module in the distributor with the 2 connectors on it that come out of the distributor, it looks just like the one on the gm vehicles, and even plugs in and runs the boat, but i dont know if it adjust the timming correctly or not (advance)or if merc has a different prog in there module for advance. thanks rod knock

Ive never tried it, Was the GM module cheaper? Just wondering why you went with it?

no i had it in my tool box already from a vehicle.so i tried it and it runs great
