Hi to all,
I have a 1993 3.0 Mercruiser. I noticed that when I cranked the engine with the coil unhooked, the carb would start dripping lots of gas inside from squrters. Is this normal ? The engine never did idle smooth. It does run good at wot and cruise.
Do I need a rebuild?
Thanks,
Bob

It is supposed to spray fuel when the throttle is pushed forward, but if it dribbles out all the time then maybe the float is sinking or is set wrong.

Re: 3.0 Carb question

No gas on the fuel pump tube. Is their some type of check valve/ball,power valve or something in the idle passage that my be stuck? I have not changed the float setting or touched the carb. It starts easy. By the responses,it sounds like I have a problem.
Thanks,
Bob

Re: 3.0 Carb question

if your going to tear it apart to check the float level,etc... just get yourself a rebuild kit. i got mine from NAPA. it could be the float level,a blockage in the idle passage,ect.. all solved with a good rebuild.
Bruce
