Ok guys, this is about fishing, that goes back to engine idle adjustments...

Is there any reason that I should not be able to use my primary 3.0 140hp for trolling? Optimal trolling speed is around 2-3mph. At idle speed--> in gear, slowest I can go is about double that.. 4.5. 4.8.. to fast for effective trolling.. is there any easy way for me to turn down the idle a bit? how do I do that... what rpm idle speed should I be getting?

Went fishing yesterday for trout on Seneca Lake ( NYS-Finger Lake), lots of fish 100+ feet down there, I was going to fast in troll mode. I want to see if I can correct that before I look into buying a kicker motor. If my current idle...in gear speed of 4+mph with a 140/4blade is normal,, I will look at a small kicker.. suggestions?

Ayuh,.... I use Over-sized trim tabs, 'n if that ain't S l o w enough,...

I'll toss a 6' drift sock off each side on a forward cleat, 'n run 'em up beside the hull,....

Like that, I can bump the idle Up abit,....

'bout 1000 rpms puts me at walleye speeds, with higher oil pressure, better coolin', 'n much better boat control in the wind,...
