Just unwrapped my 1996 Bayliner with the 3.0 L engine after two years under shrink wrap. Put STABIL in it when I stored it. Started right up and ran fine in the driveway, took to lake and put 11 gallons of fresh fuel in it. Started and ran fine at the lake, idled fine, no problems. left boat for 8 hours and then when I went to start it to go home, it would only start and run if I kept the RPM over 3,000. If I tried to bring it down or start in nuetral, it would not start or run. ANy ideas on what is causing this problem? ANy suggestions to fix it?The boat has been a champ for the past 13 years without one problem.

A circuit in the carb is plugged. Clean'er up, put a carb kit in it. After 13 years it needs it!

Agree, most likely it is time for some serious carb cleaning.

Any idea how hard it is to clean a carb or rebuild one? I have never done that and from what I can see at the boat part places a new carb is really expensive,

Hard? not at all, but cleanliness and organization are critical. There are lots of small parts that need to go back where they came from.
