Hi. I have a 1997 3.0 mercruiser, and I think I have a oil leak coming from the bottom of the fuel pump. does anyone know how much torque the bolts should have? I dont want to over torque them. Thanks in advance.

Should be 20 foot LBS. Did you just install a new pump? Is the gasket leaking?

Re: 3.0 fuel pump bolts

thanks for the reply. Not a new pump, but it seams like it oily...wet...right under the pump. I had a new timing cover put on in July and there still seams to be a little leak. Power steering and trim oil levels are fine,so i'm going over everything else.

You may just want to throw a new gasket in it. It should not be leaking. Coat it with perfect seal or equivelant and torque to 20 ft lbs. Good luck

The pump itself can even leak - pull it and inspect it and the gasket a little closer.

Thank you for all the replys. I tightend the pump. The bolts seamed to be pretty loose. I just might invest in a new gasket if I find any more leaks. Thanks again.
