3.0 Litre OMC will not turn over

Got to the as far away from the launch as we could,, had some good supper which my wife packed with friends,,, and then she would not turn over.

Flagged a guy down for a battery boast thinking it was a low battery,, still only cranks one turn. Thankful the guy was super nice and towed us to over an hour to safety!

Where do I start tomorrow and what caused the problem? Foolishly I must admit that my temperature gauge only works when the boat is idling so I do not know yet if I overheated it,

I was thinking of pulling the plugs and seeing if it would crank over and going from there, if it cranks over I was thinking of putting a little oil on top of each piston.,,,

What would you suggest?

Pull the starter & have it tested. How old is the batterty? And you definetely should have that temp gauge fixed.

Battery is new, I will take a look at the starter, thank you

Are you hearing the solenoid click when you hit the switch? If yes, try the old faithful tap the starter with a little hammer routine. That might tell you real quick it's time to rebuild the starter.

I can now jump it with booster cables at the solenoid. We replaces that starter solenoid and tested the started which was fine. I know need a ingination switch as I have at other problems at the key before. Thank you for all your help,,, so nice to get back out on the water yesterday, it was a perfect day for it!
