I have a 99 Sea Ray and it quit on me last week out on the water. I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m not getting enough spark. So I’ve done a little trouble shooting so fare I’ve replaced the ignition coil, pickup coil, module, cap, and rotor. Sill no change. Dose any one have any ideal what or ware to go from here?

Hi, SeaRay.

Welcome to iboats. :)

You didn't notice that this forum is for Mercury Outboard troubles. We have a forum devoted to I/O and Inboard engine questions.

I will move this there.

Good luck. :)

How many volts, with the key on, do you have at the positive (+) side of the coil? It should be at least 9.5.

If less, you have a voltage drop, across a connection, in the ignition circuit.

11.45V are on the positive side of the coil. I’ve found out that the coil is not producing fire when it should it will spark than it will not. I read in the manla that if the tech lead is not getting between 1.5 and 8.0V it could cause problems so I checked the gray wire going to the coil (I think it’s the tech lead) its only getting 0.56V is this correct and if it is what would cause this?
