Any secrets out there for getting a little more power out of a 3.0 L Mercruiser? I am getting around 30 mph would like to get 35 at least. The motor is all factory in a 1991 190 Glasport. I know I could change the prop but would like to spend less $ than that.

You will need to be more specific as far as WOT RPM and Speed for anyone to help you. Also what is the load in the boat.

Great little workhorse engines these are. Hot rods they are not. Cheapest way to get some more go-go I'm afraid, is to swap out props. A five mile an hour increase is pretty optimistic though. What kind and pitch prop are you currently running? Check with your local dealer to see if they are participating in a demo prop program. This will let you try a few different wheels before you buy.
