3.0 no spark no crank

I have a 2007 Volvo 3.0gl that won't crank. I put power to the start wire on the starter, got it to crank, but no spark.
Here's what I know...
-Power going into engine harness at purple wire, but no power at ignition fuse in fuse box, and of course no power from there to coil.
-Engine starts and runs if hard wired(jumper wire to coil, jumper wire to starter solenoid) with normal readings on volt meter.
-Swapped engine crank relay with trim relay and no change.
-Took out the little relay that corresponds to the picture of the spark plug on the fuse box cover, determined which pin had power with key on, then ohmed the others to find out which went to the coil, and which went to the starter. Found all three, then jumped power to starter wire and coil wire from there. Engine runs fine like this. Thought it must be the relay, so I bought a new one. Installed it and had no luck.
What am I missing?
Thanks!

Re: 3.0 no spark no crank

I believe that the little micro relay is working just fine. Since I swapped out the engine crank relay with one of the trim relays, I can assume that it is working as well. It seems that power must go through the large relay first, then through the small one. I could really use a wiring diagram for this, is there any way to get one without buying the online manual? I'd rather buy a paper copy, and that takes more time than I'd like to wait.
Thanks

The relay is for the starter, has nothing to do with spark.

Do you have power to the purple wire on the coil with the igntion switch in the run position? also in the start position?

Re: 3.0 no spark no crank

The micro relay(half the size of the normal mini relay) does provide power to the coil wire when cranking. The normal size relay is for engine cranking. I had no power at the coil with the key in any position. After testing the relays, and ohming out nearly the entire engine harness, I found a broken terminal at the starter. The two red 8-10 gauge wires had broken, and the shrinkwrap was covering up the problem. Put some new ring terminals on, and she runs just fine.
