I have a 1995 Sunbird Stinger with a 3.0 OMC Cobra motor. I got the boat a few months ago with no idea what it has been through. I did a ton of motor work to it and got it running and it runs well. It starts good and runs good and hits speeds between 35 and 40 at 4000 rpm's. The problem..... If you give the boat full throttle from a dead stop it take forever to get up to plane and speed.

What I don't know is if this is the way this motor is or if I have a fuel, air, or timing prob? If you bring the throttle up slowly the motor will rev with the throttle but if you punch it there is no quick response. Any suggestions?

Sounds like too big a prop if your only gettin 4000 rpm out of it, should be 4600.

I had a 14 1/2" 19P 3 blade prop on it, I just put on a 14 1/2" 17P 4 blade. Haven't tested it yet.

Ayuh,... Try the 17",... you might need a 15", unless the motor is Outa Tune,+ down on power...
A Complete tune up might be a Better investment....
