I found a popped out freeze plug on my exhaust manifold. I fixed that. I still have water leaking in the back of the motor only when its running. If I put a hose on my flush port I get no water leaks. 3 questions
1 Is the freeze plug/crack the only thing that could be leaking?
2 Do I pull the motor or can I pull the outdrive to fix it?
3 How do I stop this from happing again. I did drain the water out of the head and block. I left the drains open as well.

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,.... Ya, Hopefully it's Just the core plug back there, the motor has to come out to fix it,...

#3,... No way in 'ell, ya Drained it,...
Ya mighta pulled the plugs, but I'm guessin' you didn't poke the crud outa the holes, which didn't allow it to drain,...
If ya Had, this wouldn't have happened,...

You need to tell us what were working on???
They made a bunch of 3.0's
I've found in areas that deepfreeze you should fill with antifreeze.
Just draining doesn't always do a good enough job.

I know the drains were all clogged at the end of last year. I did clean them up had to put a new riser on cause of rust build up causing coolant hose to shoot off. water drained nice out of them when I winterized it. I can certainly understand the disbelief too! the freeze plug on the exhaust manifold was steel and not brass. but still should not pop. looks like pulling the motor is not that hard either
thanks!

Your own words!!
If it's been drained it won't freeze.
If he adds anti-freeze then it cuts down on the chance of trapped water.
More-on that later.
