I have a mercruiser 3.0l engine and for the last two years my mechanic has checked the engine alignment during yearly service and has said that it did not need adjustment.
Does the engine usually stay in alignment?
How often does anyone check their engine alignment and it is out of alignment?

Re: 3.0l engine alignment

If everything is ok, they should stay in alignment. Checking yearly is how you find out if a mount has gone bad or come loose, or a stringer is sagging or some other thing is wrong. Checking the aligment is like checking the oil. Just to make sure everything is still ok.

The alignment should be checked every 100 hrs or yearly which ever comes first.

Re: 3.0l engine alignment

Thanks for the reply. I think i may attempt to check it myself the end of this year. I have watched the mechanic do this and it appears somewhat easy. I will have to buy the tools and build a stand but with everyone's help on this site i think i can handle this. The only thing is if it is out of alignment i will probably be asking a lot of questions.
