I have my 3.0 I/O out for repair. Older boat and I'm not real crazy about the condition of the hole where the front engine mount bolts in. the surrounding wood is fine, but the wood in the hole is a little soft. I'm thinking about using a hole saw, and taking about a 2 inch dia 3-4 inch deep plug, maybe even use a solid piece of aluminum and machine screw tap it. If not that use a very slow set epoxy that will soak the wood really good. Still not crazy about that since just putting in a new lag bolt will crack whatever I use to seal the wood and if my caulk is not perfect....
Thoughts?

One of the mods will probably tell you to post your questions about one boat in one thread... between your transom issues and your rotting engine mount, I'm guessing you have a lot more rot happening in there than you think. Most people on these forums have gone through the exact same experience.
