Hi,

For the past year now been having an issue with what appears to be fuel starvation on my 1984 I/O. I have replaced the fuel pump and rebuilt the carb.

Today I pulled the anti syphon valve and looks like that was removed as it looks like AC309176-7815-4EAE-8D42-8AB85AF762F8.jpegjust a valve now. Either way it was open. I also removed the fitting for the dip tube. After removing the fitting, there was no tube, but inside there appears to be a tube maybe welded from the inside? This concerns me and wondering if I’m loosing my prime here? Added a pic for reference.

Thank You

There probably a a bag style at the end or a small one in the tube. Try using a straight piece of wire to see if there is one in the tube. If there is none in the tube then usually the tube has a 90* bend at the bottom where the filter bag is attached.
Does the tube feel loose, does the fitting that went into the tank have the appearance that the tube was pressed into the fitting and the tube fell out?
If the sender is near you may have to drain the tank and with the sender removed to look at the tube. If there is a bag filter you might be able to remove it.

Your probably right on the tube bend, it does seem to do that. The tube that’s in there doesn’t seem that loose and does not appear it was connected to fitting. I already tried removing the sender to see if I could see tube, but no luck with that. So maybe it was made that way and welded from inside? I was hoping there was an easy way to get this out and just install a universal fuel tank pick-up.

Well I found the fuel starvation problem, had the filter at carb in backwards. I must have done this when I rebuilt it. Starts up fine now!!!
