hi guys i have a 2005 VP 3.0l with holley 2bbl ive drilled out the caps covering the idle mixture screws and i dont know if i did it

or if one was already broken but on one idle mixture screw half the head is broken off, by that i mean that where the screw driver

slot is half is gone, as i said maybe i did it when the drill broke through.

anyway i was just wondering if all holleys have the same idle mixture screw, can i just order any pair and be good.

i,m very capable with these carbys except for the reverse mixture types.

do you know if i would have the screw in leans and screw out richness variety???

many thanks for your input

Ayuh,... I fixed yer title for ya,.... Don hates it, 'n I don't appreciate bein' called out, Personally....

There are Many knowledgeable posters here at iboats that give Great Info....

'ell,... I don't even do Volvos....

I imagine ya busted the screw, drillin' the cap off,...

Screw it In to lean, 'n Out to richen....

Being a 2005 im guessing you have a 2bbl 2300 carb. As far as I've read, they are a common idle mixture screw. Summit racing carries them as do many other places I'm sure. And yes, in to lean, out to rich.

thanks for the help and sorry for calling you out personally, there is still enough of the screw left that i can grab it with long nosed pliers

so hopefully i can gently ease it out and fit a replacement

when looking on the internet they all looked the same i guess i can always remove the undamaged one to check.

thanks again

yep got the damaged one out and have ordered two new ones today, there were some moments of self doubt as i grabbed the stub remaining and began to turn it, but thankfully it came out and i dont need to get all technical with it.

Re: 3.0l idle air screws ?

got the two new idle mixture screws and fitted them , as it was the existing screws where about half a turn out, so i did the old screw them all the way in and then back out 1.5 turns, i then started the motor and let it idle till warmed up and readjusted the idle mixture screws, i found they were very sensitive and needed to be about 1.25 turns out.

so the way it was it woulld have been quite lean at idle, and explains why it didnt want to idle smoothly

Great! Don has mentioned that the 3.0's are set to idle too lean from the factory. Glad you got the caps off and were able to get new screws adjusted properly. Enjoy!
