1999 Mercruiser 3.0l dies when I try to give it throttle. The engine idles fine, I can make it through the no wake zone. Once I try to accelerate it just dies.
When I ran the engine off of muffs, it did not have this issue. Only happened when I was on the water.
This boat sat for 4 years, just rebuilt the engine and took it out for first test run. The fuel is the same 4 year old gas (full tank) and the carb has not been cleaned. I was thinking that the carb needed to be rebuilt and the fuel drained. Just wanted to see what the pros think.
