I have a 99 Crownline 180br with a 3.0L coupled to a Volvo Penta SX outdrive. When going from idle to wide open throttle it acts like it has a miss then will take off and start running great then start surging occasionally if under a load. While making turns it will "bog down" and constantly surge back and forth like this. It also does not want to idle below 1000 rpm without occasionally stalling. This is a brand new crate engine w/ about 4 hrs on it now. The electronic distributor, plugs and wires are also all new. However the carb and fuel pump are the original. The carb appears to have been rebuilt recently but cannot say for sure. Where should I start to look first??
