1997 Merc 3.0lx alpha 1 gen2 I think

Info.
Engine-OK155527
Transom-OK206014
Drive-084899

This was all found on flame arrest on top of carb.
I was wondering if someone could give me the part number for a rebuild kit for that carb? I dont exactly trust the kid working at West Marine to sell me the right kit.

Does this have an electric choke on it, it appears the cam attached to the butterfly just rides on an adjustable screw head, its not connected to the other linkage in anyway, you can see the screw in bottom left hand side of pic#1...

I have the carb pulled off, ready to disassemble ..Wondering if there were any tips or info that will help in succeeding on the rebuild?
Also I will attach some pics, the arms that attach to the butterfly and throttle move fairly easy, but have some rust on them, are those replaced in the rebuild kits?

I have a link to the online manual I am heading over there to try and find a detailed shot of the carb.

Re: 3.0lx carb rebuild

I just tried to open my PDF files I saved from reading other post on here, but cant seem to get them to work..Can someone please post a link or something to the manuals I need for my engine and drive...I will try and save them again.

I do have service manual 13 saved, but when I scroll down to click on section 5 fuel systems,it says the specified file 13B5R2.PDF does not exist... Not sure what I messed up but its gone.

Thanks

For one thing, you have to save each section seperatly to your computer. And once you have it saved, it will NOT link automatically. Here is a link to outline page. Save them to your computer, and then see if they will open to make sure you actually saved them.
And don't just save the link to each one, save the .pdf file.

Part number for the kit should be 3302-804844001
The kit was just superceded from 3302-804844 to cover the TKS carbs. Either number should work for you. The kit will have gaskets, needle and seat, mixture needle, inlet filter, and check ball/components for accelerator pump. You"re going to have to clean up your old linkages.

Re: 3.0lx carb rebuild

I went to the 2 local west marine stores today and neither one could find my rebuild kit for sierra... They couldnt match up the numbers of the carb with the rebuild kit.

My carb number is
807504
6803

I thought I read somewhere that the bottom 4 digit number is a date stamp of when the carb was built....but the 807504 could not be matched anywhere.

I even went to a marina close by and they were successful is matching the 3302-804844 number posted previously, but it will take a week to get in.... I checked Iboats store and couldn't match any numbers either...

The one kid at west marine cross referenced a few numbers in his sierra catalog and came up with 18-7097,but didn't have any in stock and wasn't 100% sure that was the right kit.... so i wasn't about to waste my time and money if he couldn't even tell me if that would be the correct kit.

Anybody with some info on the sierra kits have any input, if not I will have to wait a week for the quicksilver kit to come in at over $70 bucks..

Any help would be appreciated
Thanks
