3.0LX Fuel Pump Filters -- Difference?

I have a 1995 Mercruiser 3.0LX engine and am needing to replace the Fuel Pump Filter. I believe the part number is 803897Q1 and when I pulled mine out, it looked like this ceramic piece:



However when I went to the store today to buy a Sierra part equivilant (18-7784), it looked something like (not exactly) like this:



What is the difference, and should the 2nd filter be going in my fuel pump? Thanks!

Ayuh,... In my experince, they're completely interchangable...
Personally, I prefer the paper element type...
