3.7 mercruser engine question

I have a 3.7 mercruiser engine that I would like to use in a car .It is a off road project any body know if there is a transmission will fit it. thanks for any info I can get

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,.... Ya might wanta reconsider that idea,...

There's No manifolds or nothin' avaiable for it that ain't water cooled marine stuff,...
'ell, there ain't much available for it anymore that's marine either,....

I donno what the block flange bolt pattern is, but it's rumored to be the standard Chevy pattern,...
Even though the motor is a mix of Ford, 'n Merc's own parts,...

My understanding is that it is a standard chevrolet bolt pattern...

and that they make neat 4 cyl hot rod motors... aftermarket ford big block aluminum head (and corresponding exhaust flanged header), reground camshaft, seal water pump drive area off with a freeze plug or similiar, run external one, replace stock alternator with one forma car, etc.. do a search on the HAMB message boards, several folks there have done major work on these for use in light roadsters, etc...

Yea, HAMB guys love them. Ford Motorsport had a deal to sell the blocks as Ford racing blocks for short track racing in 1986 ( appeared in Winter '86 catalog ) but the deal fell apart and then Merc called it quits on them in '89.

Exhaust manifold from a 460 Ford will work or headers , use stock intake for the 3.7L.. IIRC They run Chevy Starters and Chevy transmissions, but I don't know what flexplate they use.. In any case, the HAMB has the answers, just keep in mind if you join that site for help, don't clue them in to what type of vehicle you have because they don't take well to people who do not drive or build their style vehicles.
